Seniors who have already obtained a parking permit should park in their assigned spot on Tuesday morning.  Seniors who have not yet obtained a permit, but plan to drive to school will be directed by Brother James to an area not yet reserved. Those Seniors should purchase a permit on Tuesday or if no more are available, place their name on the waiting list. Only seniors are permitted to drive to school and park on campus.

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

The purpose of the CBA Service Program is to inspire our students to reach out to others in need. The heart of the Gospel, “Do unto others as you would do unto yourself”, is our purpose. Our goal is to motivate our students to reach out to the truly needy who are dependent, who are hungry for the basics which life has deprived them and who seek a more human quality of life.

A generous service to the less fortunate, the needy, the dependent and the poor DOES QUALIFY for the CBA Service Program such as LaSallian Youth Projects (which are sponsored during the academic year by CBA), Special Olympics, Soup Kitchens, Altar Server, ARC, CCD Teacher, Challenger Sports Programs, Habitat for Humanity and similar service projects.

Any basically selfless activity which may be generous but not oriented toward the needy, the less fortunate, the dependent or the poor, DOES NOT QUALIFY for the CBA Service Program, such as activities sponsored by CBA like the Art Show, Fall Luncheon, CBA Theatre, CBA Sports, CBA Open House, chores for family members, coaching Little League or similar teams, or tutoring in your former grammar school.

Each CBA student is required to complete a minimum of 50 hours of Service in order to graduate. Of course, we encourage them to do more:

10 Hours – Freshman      15 Hours – Sophomore

15 Hours - Junior             10 Hours – Senior

If a student would like to work on his CBA Service Hours over the summer, he may proceed following the guidance offered above. The CBA Website is a good resource for service opportunities. Please do not be limited by what is provided on the website. Rather, use this as a tool to guide your son to appropriate and similar service opportunities.

Each student will be asked to submit a CBA Service Proposal describing what he intends to do for his Service Hours. If a student will be working on his hours over the summer, the CBA SERVICE PROPOSAL form can be accessed and submitted via the website.   www.cbalincroftnj.org

Complete the form and follow the instructions for submission to the Service Committee for review.  The Service Proposals are due on or before September 29th.

Don’t procrastinate. Use your free time during the summer to start your Service Hours. Students can create a spreadsheet listing what he did, the date and the number of hours to keep track of what they did. This will make his job easy when his completed CBA SERVICE HOURS are due for Seniors on January 4, 2011 and for Juniors, Sophomores and Freshmen on March 24, 2011

Once you have completed your Service Hours, you can submit them by completing the SERVICE SUMMARY FORM on the website just like you did when you submitted your Service Proposal.  If you do multiple service activities, you can submit multiple SERVICE SUMMARY FORMS and your hours will be combined.

This is simply an introduction to an important activity of CBA. If you have any questions or are unsure of your choice of service, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Service Committee.

Sincerely,

Brother Joseph Miggins, FSC
